The reservation is
located in the Staporkow district. It was founded on the 1st of
April 1959. It comprises the area of 6,3 hectares. The majority of the
area consist of mixed forests. The most precious value are picturous rock
formations formed in the sandstone.
The
aim of the protection is to preserve those rocks and special kind of fern
called Asplenium Septentrionale. Its outstanding feature is that it grows
between the layers of the stones.
We
can observe different shapes of the rock formations, for example
resembling mushroom, towers and tables.
The
typical flora of this reservation is: Anemone
sylvestris, Campanula boloniensis, Campanula sibirica, Lycopodiella
inundata and Pedicularis sylvatica. There are also many specimen of
animals: deer, badgers, foxes (Vulpes vulpes),
bats, boars, least weasels, West European hedgehogs (Erinaceus
europaeus), European nightjars (Caprimulgus europaeus), common pheasants (Phasianus
colchicus), goshawks (Accipiter gentilis) and bullfinches (Pyrrhula
pyrrhula).
The
reservation is a worthy place to visit when you are in the Staporkow
neighbourhood.
